(a) Though designation of biosphere reserve does not accord any legal status to that site, conservation of flora and fauna in the biosphere reserve is ensured by implementation of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 in the core zone and regulation of activities in the buffer and transition zones.
