Khadi and village industries’ (KVI) activities are undertaken mostly by KVI institutions which are generally Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) registered as trusts or societies and normally function on ‘no- profit –no- loss’ basis.  Surpluses generated in their operations are however ploughed back in the operation of the institution for its improved functioning/welfare of the artisans.  The performance of khadi and village industries sector in terms of production and sale of khadi and village industries products is indicated in the Table given below:
