reply to Unstarred Question 89 in the Rajya Sabha on
(a) by when the
testing of H1N1 vaccines was completed and the results of
the test;
(b) the price
of this vaccine in Indian market;
(c) whether
this vaccine is easily available in the market; and
(d) whether
swine flu infected patients in Mumbai were provided H1N1 vaccine in May-June,
2010?

(a) The testing of the Pandemic influenza H1N1 vaccines was undertaken by the Central Drug Laboratory, Kasuali (National Control Laboratory) and declared to be of Standard quality. Details of the tests are at Annexure.
(b) The price of H1N1 vaccine (Brand Name :VaxiFlu S) manufactured by M/s Zydus Cadila Health Care Limited, Ahmedabad is Rs 3910 per vial (each vial containing 10 doses).
The price of live attenuated H1N1 vaccine (Brand Name:Nasovac) manufactured by M/s Serum Institute of India Limited, Pune is Rs.790/- per vial (each vial containing 5 doses).
The inactivated H1N1 vaccine manufactured by M/s Serum
Institute of
(c) Yes. The inactivated H1N1 vaccine of M/s Zydus Cadila Health Care Limited, Ahmedabad and live attenuated H1N1 vaccine of M/s Serum Institute of India Limited, Pune are available in the market.
(d) Vaccination is not a recommended intervention for Swine flu infected patients.
