Final Location Survey (FLS) for the project has been completed and part detailed estimate for the first 20 km of the project section (Bhanupalli-Dharot)   has already been sanctioned.  Contract for earthwork and minor bridges for the first 3 km. has been awarded.  Land acquisition has been taken up.

Chandigarh-Baddi new line      (33.23 km.)

The work of Chandigarh-Baddi was included in Budget 2007-08.  State Govts. of Punjab and U.T. of Chandigarh expressed inability to provide land for the project. The alternate alignment to connect Baddi with Ghanauli is being examined.

Nangal Dam-Talwara new line (83.74 km.)

Nangal Dam-Churaru Takrala (33 km.) has already been commissioned.   Churaru  Takrala-Amb Anduara  (11.6 km.) portion has also been completed. The work will now be taken up in the next phase between Amb Anduara – Kartoli Punjab.   

      

(d)&(e) :  The work of Nangal Dam-Talwara new line is being done  in phases as per the availability of resources.  The work remained suspended  for a long time as  State Government of Himachal Pradesh did not provide land free of cost as per the commitment.  Due to the long gestation period, the cost has increased considerably.  State Government of Himachal Pradesh has also been requested to share cost of the project.
